In recent years, many Chinese smartphone brands have adopted the trend of launching their flagship devices towards the end of the year. A significant factor behind this timing is the release of Qualcomm’s high-performance Snapdragon chipsets, typically announced around October. This year is no exception, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 set to debut in the last quarter of 2024, which will then be featured in high-end smartphones.
Brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Vivo are expected to incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in their upcoming flagship series. Similarly, iQOO is also gearing up to launch its new series. Reports suggest that the iQOO 13 series may be introduced as early as November. Leaked specifications on the Chinese social media platform Weibo indicate significant upgrades over the iQOO 12. According to the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), the iQOO 13 will sport a flat OLED display with 2K resolution and a highly responsive single-point ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor.
To enhance the gaming experience, the new iQOO phone will feature a large X-axis linear motor. Although DCS has not confirmed the processor, it is speculated that the device will boast an IP68 rating, ensuring protection against water and dust.
The iQOO 12, released last year, came equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 64-megapixel 3x periscope camera. For the iQOO 13, DCS has revealed that it will continue to include a 3x periscope zoom camera, although details about whether it will be the same as the previous model remain unclear.
